چکیده
Accurate assessment of agricultural drought is useful for ecosystem services. This a successive work our previous study that assessed using the soil water deficit index (SWDI) based on ERA5-Land in four southern provinces China from 2017 to 2019. Firstly, addition ERA5-Land, suitability CLDAS (China Land Data Assimilation System) moisture was investigated. Then, extended with more comprehensive analysis and much longer period (1981–2020). Based three climate zones, situ used evaluation both reanalysis datasets drought. It found ERA5-Land_SWDI CLDAS_SWDI have good correlation SWDI. demonstrate some differences representing but similar performance evaluated by moisture. Droughts 2001 2010 were serious than other decades, droughts become severer areas last 40 years. There between meteorological Our offers important insights risk management China.

Evaluation of Satellite and Reanalysis Soil Moisture Products over Southwest China Using Ground-Based Measurements
Long-term global satellite and reanalysis soil moisture products have been available for several years. In this study, in situ soil moisture measurements from 2008 to 2012 over Southwest China are used to evaluate the accuracy of four satellite-based products and one reanalysis soil moisture product. These products are the Advanced Microwave Scanning Radiometer for the Earth observing system (A...
متن کاملDevelopment of the Soil Moisture Index to Quantify Agricultural Drought and Its “User Friendliness” in Severity-Area-Duration Assessment
This paper examines the role of soil moisture in quantifying drought through the development of a drought index using observed and modeled soil moisture. In Nebraska, rainfall is received primarily during the crop-growing season and the supply of moisture from the Gulf of Mexico determines if the impending crop year is either normal or anomalous and any deficit of rain leads to a lack of soil m...
متن کاملSoil moisture gradients and controls on a southern Appalachian hillslope from drought through recharge
Soil moisture gradients along hillslopes in humid watersheds, although indicated by vegetation gradients and by studies using models, have been difficult to confirm empirically. While soil properties and topographic features are the two general physiographic factors controlling soil moisture on hillslopes, studies have shown conflicting results regarding which factor is more important. The rela...
متن کاملEvaluation of Reanalysis Soil Moisture Simulations Using Updated Chinese Soil Moisture Observations
Using 19 years of Chinese soil moisture data from 1981-1999, we evaluate soil moisture in three reanalysis outputs: ERA40, NCEP/NCAR reanalysis (R-1), and NCEP/DOE reanalysis 2 (R-2) over China. R-2 shows better interannual variability and seasonal patterns of soil moisture than R-1 as the result of incorporation of observed precipitation. ERA40 produces a better mean value of soil moisture for...
متن کاملBenchmarking a Soil Moisture Data Assimilation System for Agricultural Drought Monitoring
Agricultural drought is defined as a shortage of moisture in the root zone of plants. Recently available satellite-based remote sensing data have accelerated development of drought early warning system by providing continuous soil moisture information in space and time. Nonetheless, the shallow sensing depth (top few cm) and uncertain accuracy of currentlyavailable satellite soil moisture retri...
